I am a bit obsessive compulsive about designing open world games. I am studying everything I can in order to be capable of achieving that goal. I am currently learning Blender. I have been studying it very hard for about a month now. I have been looking for a free open-source engine on which to base my creations. I am looking forward to OpenMW for this very reason. In my humble opinion, Morrowind is one of the greatest games of all time. However, Grit seems to be even more promising than OpenMW. I want to make free open-source games that anyone with the ability and know-how can fully customize and modify, even if I have to use the Quake engine. I know that sounds mad. The Quake engine is definitely not best suited for open-world games. But it is open-source, and I can be very creative. No engine is incapable of open-worlds, provided that one link many maps together in a modular fashion. But that would be, needless to say, a bit of a challenge. I am not much of a programmer, but I was so steadfast in my desire to make an open-world game, I was prepared to spend years learning how to program in order to develop a well suited engine to fit my needs. If the Grit Engine comes together well, I can learn Lua. Why not? I am very excited about this project. I am hoping that it comes to fruition. I like open-world games, because I believe that the single greatest experience in gaming is exploration. Oh, and I am not a bot.

wanted to post that Im trying to get X-Seti to bring his State of Liberty project here because he was thinking about porting his mod to an open source engine. I figured GRIT would be the proper choice since it was made for such a thing ;)

How would it work? you would need GTA 3, VC, and SA disks to 'play' it? (Since distributing those files is illegal)

Note I already wrote a lot of code to convert SA assets to Grit so that should be reused

Trained (FWIW, anyway) Game Artist, turned Technical Artist, turned full-fledged Programmer, working with a small team in Unity for mobile development and looking to branch out more in my personal project :)
