 Post subject: I want to learn how to create a game with grit

Hi,
Sorry, this is a bit long,

If i knew how to create 3D objects and others stuffs for grit,
then i would not mind creating 3D objects and others stuffs
and sharing them with the grit community.
Hey, but wait a minute, that would mean to create an account
on a file sharing site,then, after creating the "something",
i would have to upload it to that site, then copy and paste the link for
download of that "something" onto a temporary txt files on my desktop.
then logging in grit, creating a topic explaining what the "something" is
and pasting the link inside that topic,or i could start a web sites,
and putting the description of that "something" and the link
to downloading it.and that, for every new "something"
that i would create and that i would want to share with the grit community.
Wow, that is a lot of work and a huge time consuming procedure.
Hmmm! Maybe it would be a very good idea to have, on the grit web site,
some sort of a database, where users can logging and upload stuffs
created (and fully compatible) for grit, all you would have to do,
you logging , you choose the category where you want to
put your creation,you write a short description,
and you click the upload button,and then, peoples,
without logging in, can download what they need.
Stuufs migth be, 3D cars, textures,whole 3D maps,
sfx sounds, songs, musics,voices for npc saying something,
voice of a radio dj presenting songs, planes, boats, every day 3D objects, etc...
and, it would all be free,according to the same lisence as the grit.

Wow!,man, that would really be something cool and awesome.

What we usually do is just give svn access to anyone who wants to contribute and they upload meshes to /common/

Hi,
thank you for your answer Spark, i understand your reply, but imho , that way of doing thing will turn away from grit many peoples, because it is too much troubles, What i am proposing is to have one place, the first place to look for fully compatible with grit "stuffs", like scripts, ideas for missions, houses, avatars, npc avatars, etc... One place with one username/password to remember, one place that is inside the grit web site,a place with a nice look that really give peoples the feeling of wanting to create/share "stuffs" for grit. Of course, that does not forbid peoples to have their own web site where you can upload/download "stuffs" for grit.

I agree with you gabriel

And i think it have a lot of potential

blendswap.com is a good example

This may increase people interest in Grit, who just want to try new stuff and have fun in engine

If Grit could fully support multiplayer, we could have something similar to "GTA V multiplayer with mods" or an "Garry's Mod" like game (maybe creating a parallel project based on Grit)

Other example is UE4 marketplace, but for Grit it could be free initialy..

But that's my opinion, i don't know what others think about it, so it may not be according to "Grit main focus".. :P

PS: Grit SVN already have a lot of assets, that may not be interesting to some people.. (i wish i could have a clean version of Grit, so i could still have Grit on my last HDD with just 5gb of free disk space :umm: (I had to delete it for now))

It's why I created a filter by tags in the grit file explorer.
Has you can see (no sound in my video) you can find assets easily regardless of it's location in media directory.

I like the tags feature.

There is probably some cleanup that could be done in /common tbh.
